Sustainability

There is already a lot of everything in the world. That is why we manufacture products in small batches, avoiding overproduction. Kiedo also has several products that are pre ordered or made to order, this way we meet demand and produce just the right products from valuable materials. Wrap belts also magically create up new clothes from an existing wardrobe: wrap belts can create completely new outfits and many unused clothes come alive and get back into use.
The basic principle of the circular economy is sustainability. In order for a product to be as ecological as possible, it should have longevity. Kiedo products can be maintained and repaired almost forever, and leather is a very long-lasting material: I use a leather backpack made from my father's 50-year-old leather jacket.

Kiedo products are made in Pirkanmaa, and we also buy all of our materials from Finland. We make most of our products from industrial surplus leather, material that has already been produced and has not been utilized. In addition, we strive to avoid material waste through precise cutting design - and we make jewelry and small products from the cutting left overs of our own production. The zero waste principle is important to us, and the stud earrings in the jewelry selection guarantee that even the smallest pieces of left overs can be used! We pack our zero waste jewelry in Toijala Korukotelo's domestic biodegradable boxes.
We also strive to have a minimal carbon footprint in logistics - domestic production is therefore an important choice for us. The packages delivered via post are small and only weigh a few hundred grams. Products are made within an hour's drive of our store, and some products are made so close to us that they are delivered to the shop by bicycle or on foot! Other benefits of domestic production include employment, increased self-sufficiency, and rapid response to demand.
The products are tied with ribbons from the surplus of our production, and all Kiedo packaging, product labels etc are carefully selected with ecological mindset. No plastic is used in our packaging. Kiedo's product labels, mailing bags, jewelry boxes, paper bags and thank you cards are all made in Finland. The paper products are from FSC-certified forests. These choices are not the cheapest, but they are sustainable and respectful of nature, and in line with our values.

Our products have also been approved by an independent expert panel for the ostavastuullisesti.fi website and the Pirkanmaa KIERTO100 circular economy companies list.
